Privacy law office

John clark, attorney

For many years, I have been

the primary consulting attorney

to JJ Luna, author of “How to be Invisible”

and numerous other books on personal

privacy.  My sole purpose?  “Keeping it legal.”

Protecting personal privacy can be a complex and confusing balancing act.  Individual liberty, a desire to be out of the public eye, and of course personal and financial security must be balanced against the legitimate need for information by law enforcement, taxation and national security agencies.  There are many excellent do-it-yourself resources available for both privacy strategies and legal document preparation.  But if you find these daunting or your situation is difficult or complicated, you may need help from an attorney experienced in privacy implementation.  My goal is to minimize the amount of attorney-time and cost required for you to achieve your privacy objectives.  I seek to provide a limited range of specialized document preparation, trustee and nominee services primarily through the Internet.

I am licensed to practice law in California.  For other states, I can associate myself, when appropriate, with local legal counsel of your choosing.  I am winding down my private practice in concert with JJ Luna’s retirement, however, on a select basis I may work directly with clients in person or by phone, (VIP service).  This can become prohibitively expensive for most people.

I have a complementary background in business structure and formation, contracts, identification of tax issues, as well as ownership and operation of private business aircraft.  From January 2000 to July 2007 I was inactive in the practice of law while focusing on complex aerospace business development.

On a part-time basis, I now help people with a legitimate need for personal privacy while complying with applicable laws and regulations.  If your interests involve activities that would be of heightened interest to law enforcement, tax authorities, or national security agencies, then I can NOT help you.  JJ Luna says, and I agree: “You can’t hide from the IRS or the FBI, etc., they will find you eventually.”  I have assisted numerous law enforcement agencies in cases where people have misused privacy techniques to commit crimes, civil fraud or tax evasion.

I am not a criminal attorney, so I do not represent anyone who is in trouble with the law.   I am not a civil litigator, so I do not represent anyone in the midst of a law suit.  For those situations, you need an experienced local attorney.  I also do not help people fraudulently hiding assets from spouses, or soon to be ex-spouse, nor do I get involved in anything that authorities might perceive as “money laundering.”   That is a fast way to draw unwanted attention, which is undesirable for those seeing privacy.
